Coral Breeze

Despite being in the tropics, Coral Bay is cooled by the prevailing South Westerly wind euphamistically referred to as the Sea Breeze. It is strongest mid September through to January.

Late January through February is Cyclone season. Whilst cyclones regularly occur off Northern Australia coast, they rarely travel as far South as Coral Bay. This since the ocean is cooled by the prevailing winds. However torrential rain frequently results in damage to roads making access to the area challenging both for tourists and supplies.

From February to early September Coral Bay experiences less wind. The calmest month of the year in Coral Bay is June.

Calm seas are comonplace from March until September however there will be some windy days and occasional rain, more common in late May.

July and August are the cooler months with average daytime temperatures of 24°C (75°F) dropping to 12°C (53°F) at night.
